Siddhartha Deb
Siddhartha Deb (b. 1970) was born in Meghalaya, a northeastern state of India, and grew up in Shillong. He moved to New York on a literary fellowship in 1998, and now divides his time between India and New York.
He has worked as a journalist in Delhi and Calcutta. His reviews and journalism have appeared in the Boston Globe, the Guardian, and the Times Literary Supplement.
For Siddhartha Deb, the idea of home and belonging tied to maps and geographical identities, is the central theme of his works. His debut novel The Point of Return deals with the turbulent birth of Bangladesh, and the exodus of refugees from there to the northeastern territory of India.
