Raj Kamal Jha
Raj Kamal Jha (b. 1966) was born in Bhagalpur and grew up in Calcutta. He is a graduate of IIT Kharagpur in Mechanical Engineering.
After realising that his interest did not lie in engineering, he switched tracks to journalism and graduated in journalism from the University of Southern California. Raj Kamal Jha has worked in editorial positions in The Statesman, India Today, and is presently an Executive Editor with the Indian Express in New Delhi.
His first novel The Blue Bedspread is reputed to have earned the largest advance ever paid to a first-time Indian novelist. The book is about family relationships and its unseen facets of incest and child abuse.
Raj Kamal Jha won the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, 2000, for Best First Book (Eurasia region).
