Nayantara Sahgal
Nayantara Sahgal (1927-), was born into India’s foremost political family:the Nehrus. She completed her education in Lucknow and Wellesly College.
Indian politics and history form the backbone of her work—an unsurprising development given that three of India’s Prime Ministers so far have come from the Nehru family. A feminist concern too can be seen in her novels where her women characters are victims of conventional Indian society.
Nayantara Sahgal won the Sahitya Akademi and the Commonwealth Writers Award.
