Manil Suri

Manil Suri (b. 1959) was born in Bombay where he had his early education, and later from Carnegie-Mellon University, USA. He is a full time professor of mathematics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Manil Suri’s debut in the world of fiction–which he considers an escape from the world of mathematics–was an outstanding literary success. The Death of Vishnu is a novel depicting the different stories of the residents of an apartment complex in Bombay, tied together by the central storyline of a man named Vishnu dying on the steps of the building.

The Death of Vishnu is the first of a planned trilogy based on the divine trinity of Hinduism: Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver, and Shiva the Destroyer.
