Hari Kunzru
Hari Kunzru (b. 1969) is of Indian origin, and was born in London and grew up in Essex. He studied English at Oxford University, then gained an MA in Philosophy and Literature from Warwick University.
He had a very successful debut with The Impressionist, a novel dealing with mixed identities of the colonial and the colonized. His second novel too deals with the question of culture and identity and their relevance in today’s world. Both of Kunzru’s novels have an Indian setting or character, though he believes in making his mark as a British writer instead of being tied to his British Asian identity.
Hari Kunzru was named by Granta magazine as one of twenty “Best of Young British Novelists” in 2003. He has won the Betty Trask Award for The Impressionist.
