Gurcharan Das

Gurcharan Das (b. 1946) was born in Lyallpur (now in Pakistan). He graduated with honours from Harvard University in Philosophy and Politics.Photograph of Gurcharan Das

Gurcharan Das is an author and management consultant to industry and government. He was the CEO of Procter & Gamble India before taking early retirement to become a full-time writer.

His works include a collection of plays, a novel about the urban middle class’s experience in the early and growing years of independent India and an engrossing work of non-fiction India Unbound that traces the economic and social growth of India from its socialistic past to the globalized present.

His focus is in studying and forecasting the long-term economic future of India given its myriad political and social constraints. Gurcharan Das writes a regular column for The Times of India and is a guest contributor to publications such as the Wall Street Journal.
