Dom Moraes
Dom Moraes (1938-2004) born in Bombay, was a Goan writer, poet and columnist.
He spent eight years in Britain, but lived most of his life in Mumbai. He edited magazines in London, Hong Kong and New York. He was also a war correspondent and joined the UN in 1976.
Dom Moraes won the Hawthornden Prize in 1958 for his book of poems A Beginning. He later married the celebrated Indian actress Leela Naidu. He died in Mumbai.
