Amitav Ghosh
Amitav Ghosh (b. 1956) was born in Calcutta and had his education in Delhi and in Oxford. He lives in Brooklyn, USA.
Amitav Ghosh is one of the widely known and respected Indian writers today. Apart from realistic fiction, he has also written travelogues, political essays and science fiction. Regardless of the subject, his writing stands out for its lucidity and smoothness.
He has won the Sahitya Akademi award, the Arthur C. Clarke award and the Pushcart Prize.
